Joseph is the Production Manager for the Blue Ridge Community Theater, where he has proudly donated his time to their Children’s Theater for 7 years. He has performed in many shows, but a few of his favorites are, Lost in Yonkers, Making God Laugh, Little Women the Musical, Into the Woods, & Broadway Bound. He has also Directed several children’s productions there, including Shakespeare’s The Tempest, The Apple, & his very own show, The Undefined. Joseph encourages any dancers, singers, & actors to come out for auditions at the Blue Ridge Community Theater! “Performing live is an amazing feeling with such a unique energy, it’s stressful and fun and fulfilling all at the same time, and pretty much everyone can do it in some capacity or another!”
Joey first met Katherine in middle school, but didn’t work up the nerve to ask her out until 2014. They were married on Halloween of 2017, and brought Atticus Zayne Nicolella into the world the following year. Joseph would like to thank his amazing wife for encouraging him to take creative risks, his father for always pushing him to excel, and his son for being his daily inspiration.
Katherine is originally from Miami, Florida, but has called Appalachia home for the last 10 years. In Miami, music was everywhere, so it’s no surprise that she grew up loving such versatile styles of music. She has always loved singing, so once she joined chorus in the 4th grade, she was in it for life. She is also an Actress & Director, and both performed alongside her husband Joseph in High School, as well as directed him in their senior year. Katherine graduated from Fannin County High School in 2012, and was accepted into Reinhardt University on an exclusive theater scholarship. She has also performed at BRCT numerous times, with some of her favorites being; Whose Wives Are They Anyway, Breakfast with Less and Bess, and Drinking Habits.
While singing and acting have always been close to her heart, Katherine recently set out to become the triple threat she was always meant to be, and after years of hard work she won her certification to Teach Zumba, and now teaches at BodyPlex of Blue Ridge. She encourages everyone to find joy in the freedom of dance, and join her for one of her classes at BodyPlex!
