Amanda Jones and Stew Carnes

Amanda Jones is a Lumpkin County native and Director of Family and Community Relations for McDonald Family Funeral Homes/Dahlonega Funeral Home. She is a former CASA board member, and current CASA volunteer. Amanda is active in the community and thrives on making her hometown a better place. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family.

Stewart Carnes recently retired and is enjoying a wonderful life with his wife Terry in Dahlonega. Stew studied theater and dance in the early 1970’s and did some amateur level Country and Western dance competition in the 1990’s. He was most recently a cast member of the musical Anything Goes at the Holly Theater. He had a great time.

Stew enlisted in the US Army in 1976 and served 24 years as a Special Forces Green Beret. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer in 2000. One year later 9-11 happened. After making sure his children were taken care of he went back into the service of our country. He was recruited by a unique counter terrorism strike force. Stew conducted 37 deployments into the war zone and saw lots of combat action. Meanwhile his wife Terry was conducting reconnaissance for their retirement home. They had lived in Northern California and Key West, Florida. She discovered Dahlonega about 4 years ago, showed it to him when he was home on a R&R, and then moved them when he was deployed. What a trooper! Stew is excited about being able to support CASA.
