Bruce Howerton is retired Vice President of Advancement for the University of North Georgia.  He previously worked in a similar capacity at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.  Bruce holds a Master Degree from the University of Augusta with a major in Accounting.  He moved to Dahlonega with his wife, Barbara, in July, 2002.

Bruce works on a part-time basis at the University, involved with its Real Estate Foundation, facilities planning and advancement activities.  Bruce is a member of the Dahlonega Downtown Development Authority and on the Board of Trustees of the Chamber of Commerce.  Bruce is a current member of the Dahlonega Lumpkin County Visioning Team.  When he is not working, Bruce and his wife are avid gardeners with a goal of creating a certified Audubon Backyard Wild Life Environment.  He loves golf and is a mentor of the UNG golf team.  Bruce and Barbara have 3 children and 11 grandchildren.  Bruce is confused as to why he was chosen since Barbara is the real dancer in the family.
